Nart sagas have been fruitfully compared to Arthurian romances since 1969. This essay extends this comparative study to a medieval work written in Occitan, Jaufré. It takes into account several unpublished Ossetian texts and uses the marvelous as a method of investigation into structural, generic and cultural realms.
