This study highlights the coherence, cohesiveness and theoretical rigor of Diderot’s thought, and more generally of \18th-century philosophy, anthropology and ethics, which are too often dismissed as loose aggregates of disparate ideas when compared with their classical, 17th-century counterparts.\
