Gaston Paris, l'amour courtois et les enjeux de la modernité

Medieval literature has become the subject of modern scientific discourse in France during the second half of the 19th century. This work focuses on the writings of the famous philologist Gaston Paris (1839-1903). It revisits the concept of the “courteous love” by reading Gaston Paris’ writings regarding the Middle Ages and his contemporaries.
